Had a great night last Wednesday. The Wife and I attended the launch at the Century club on Shaftesbury Avenue in London. For those not in the know, it's a book written by music journalist Simon Bradley about Brian May's famous Red Special guitar. Red Special book We joined others such as Simon and Anja Bradley, Pete and Debbie Malandrone, Jackie from the Queen fan club, as well as Sara, Sally, Kris and Justin from BM's office......and not forgetting Brian May himself! Brian gave about an hours talk about the RS and it's history, as well as a special appearance by the Egmond that I restored a few years ago. Very nice to get a mention from BM too. Thanks Brian! |

One the the rarest of days last Monday.....a day off!! I spent it with my fabulous wife at Brian May's house photographing his Guyton Mk2 Archtop for the website. (so not really a day off at all) Ably assisted by the 'irrepressible' Pete Malandrone, we set the background and lighting up in BM's equipment store. Unfortunately, I didn't remember to take any behind the scenes shots, but click on the picture (right) to see the results. Frankie Poullain, bass player to The Darkness received his famed Gibson Thunderbird back this week. It was brought to us a little while ago with a badly broken headstock. With a little TLC, epoxy resin and cellulose lacquer, it's back to new and into active service once again. Left, modelled by Will.
Meet William - Guyton guitars new arrival. Great attention to detail, combined with a good work ethic. Bit of a handy guitarist too.........it would be very easy to hate him if he wasn't such nice chap.
What a year this has been so far? - Finally, amongst all the work, the workshop relocation and various other things, the website is finally here. The revised site contains more info on ordering and buying Guyton guitars and merchandising. There are still a few 'works in progress', namely the Guitar store and Guitar gallery. The store will soon be updated with limited edition framed prints and more clothing designs. At the moment it is Paypal only, but hopefully I will soon have credit card facilities too. The gallery will be updated as soon as instrument becomes available for photography, before or after delivery. Keep an eye on this blog page, or the Facebook page for any updates.
