One the the rarest of days last Monday.....a day off!! I spent it with my fabulous wife at Brian May's house photographing his Guyton Mk2 Archtop for the website. (so not really a day off at all) Ably assisted by the 'irrepressible' Pete Malandrone, we set the background and lighting up in BM's equipment store. Unfortunately, I didn't remember to take any behind the scenes shots, but click on the picture (right) to see the results.
Frankie Poullain, bass player to The Darkness received his famed Gibson Thunderbird back this week. It was brought to us a little while ago with a badly broken headstock. With a little TLC, epoxy resin and cellulose lacquer, it's back to new and into active service once again.

One of my favourite guitars from the 80's came into the workshop last Friday, a fine example of B.C.Rich's Bich. This isn't one of the new Korean/Chinese (or wherever they're made) guitars. It's a US made model and it's a cracker! On it's arrival, it was covered in coat of metallic pink with black parts. When it leaves it will be Ferrari Rosso Corsa with cream Dimarzios. My very first attempt at making a guitar, aged 14, was based on this model after seeing Paul Chapman from UFO brandishing one. Unfortunately, it was a complete disaster! |
