Nigel Knight's Ruby special
Some time ago, Nigel Knight from Knight Audio Technologies approached me to build his own version of Brian May's famous Red Special. He wanted something a little different in the way of feel, looks and operation.
Spec is as follows...
BM spec body, e.g. Oak and blockboard - Veneered in curly Bubinga.
Slimmer Mahogany neck with unlacquered Ebony fingerboard - Curly Bubinga headstock veneer.
Fretted using gold Jescar fretwire.
Inlaid with gold rings c/w Paua Abalone centres.
Custom machined brass bridge blocks and control knobs.
All parts gold plated.
Gold toggle switches in place of the usual sliders.
Push/pull series/parallel switch on the tone pot.
And finally....Two rubies set in to the gold plated control knobs.
