Deep into Red Special world

13/10/2014

The last week or so has seen some very intensive work on the Guyton Red Specials. We have been sanding, routing, staining, spraying, and MORE sanding!!
We are currently working on the very last batch of RS's. In some ways I will miss them, but it'll be good to move onto something new. Next year sees the limited run of five arch topped BM guitars, after that will see some VERY exciting developments. Watch this space...

This guitar was picked up today (see below). It's a limited edition Gibson Les Paul Florentine in 'Grape sparkle'. We had the job of re-finishing the top of the guitar. The pictures don't really do it any justice as it looked absolutely amazing!

Had a great night last Wednesday. The Wife and I attended the Red Special book launch at the Century club on Shaftesbury Avenue in London. For those not in the know, it's a book written by music journalist Simon Bradley about Brian May's famous Red Special guitar.
We joined others such as Simon and Anja Bradley, Pete and Debbie Malandrone, Jackie from the Queen fan club, as well as Sara, Sally, Kris and Justin from BM's office......and not forgetting Brian May himself!
Brian gave about an hours talk about the RS and it's history, as well as a special appearance by the Egmond that I restored a few years ago. Very nice to get a mention from BM too. Thanks Brian!
