Tony 'Bones' Roberts
Discharge, formed in 1977 in Stoke-on-Trent by Terry 'Tezz' Roberts and Ray 'Rainy' Wainwright, is a seminal British hardcore punk band that pioneered the 'D-Beat' subgenre. Their 1982 debut album 'Hear nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing', is a cornerstone of extreme music, influencing hardcore, thrash metal and crust punk. Known for raw, politically charged anti-war lyrics and a heavy distorted sound, the band experienced many lineup changes but maintained a legacy of aggressive, minimalist music. Shortly after forming, Discharge's guitar duties fell to Bones, and he quickly became famous for his powerful rhythm playing and fluid, almost 'violin-like' lead work that took the punk and metal world by storm. In 1982 Bones parted company with Discharge and formed 'The broken bones'. Over the years they released a total of 9 albums, with a few compilations and many singles. Discharge have now released 4 albums with Bones on guitar, with many iconic singles and literally hundreds of gigs under their belts. Discharge continue to this day, packing venues and festivals wherever they play. During 2024, I contacted Bones through Discharge's Instagram page regarding a Guyton signature guitar, and thankfully he was more than happy to collaborate. The Guyton Miura Bones signature is the result of this collaboration, and one that we are both very proud of. "Andy, the guitar is awesome! - I've done a lot of gigs with it now, 'hands down' the best guitar I've ever had. Thank-you!"
